The Team
You’d be hard pressed to find someone who knows more about the multi-family housing industry than Harris Carlock. With more than 20 years of first-hand experience, he worked his way from the ground up to oversee the management and construction of nearly one billion dollars in real estate.
An Atlanta native, Harris attended The University of Alabama where he earned a finance degree with a concentration in economics and real estate.
He began his career at prominent real estate firm ECI Group in the executive training program and thanks to his ability to dive into the details while keeping the big picture in mind, rose through the ranks from working on-site on both the management and leasing side and on construction sites to president of the management company and eventually Chief Operating Officer overseeing both the management and the construction company.
A proud dad of four, it was a desire to spend more time with his family that led Harris to look for another work opportunity and ultimately create his own with RCDP.
He is a Founding board member of Wiphan Care Ministry, a non-profit serving widows and orphans in Zambia Africa since 2005 and serves on the board of Thornhill HOA and Atlanta
Apartment Association who recognized him as their Humanitarian of the Year in 2013.
When he’s not working with his partners at Red Clay, he’s likely working on jump shots with his daughter and her teammates as their coach or on his golf swing.
And if you need further proof that he’s an overachiever, maybe the fact that he summited Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2015 will do the trick.
As a seasoned executive and general counsel with extensive experience in residential real estate development, capital structuring and corporate operations, Bryan’s deal-making track record and business acumen appealed to RCDP founders Harris and Jack, but it was his reputation as a strong leader and manager that made him the right fit for the RCDP founding team.
Bryan grew up in the New England town of Waterford, Connecticut and earned a B.S. in Behavioral Sciences degree from York College of Pennsylvania.
As a good Jewish boy with a preference for suits over scrubs, a law career was an obvious choice, and he soon earned his J.D. from New York Law School.
After graduating from law school, Bryan practiced law as an insurance defense lawyer in New York City for a couple of years, but decided to follow his interest in real estate development so he moved to south Florida where he earned a Master of Laws in Real Property Development from the University of Miami School of Law.
After graduating the Real Property Development program, Bryan decided to take the entrepreneurial plunge and helped to start a residential development company in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida that was focused on redeveloping obsolete, in-town properties with new, for sale townhomes and condominiums.
He eventually returned to his legal roots and landed a job with an Atlanta law firm and began building a community and network in Atlanta that, after a brief stint in Delaware, would become home. While serving as General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer for real estate investment firm The RADCO Companies, Bryan decided to take the entrepreneurial plunge, again, and decided to join Harris and Jack for the chance to build a company with a culture of collaboration and fun from the top down with RCDP.
With roots firmly planted in the Atlanta community, Bryan became a member of Leadership Sandy Springs (through which he reconnected with fellow RCDP partner Jack), served on the Atlanta Technical College Foundation Board, Marcus Jewish Community Center Strategic Planning Committee and is an active supporter of FIDF.
Bryan is the consummate connector, and while you never know with whom he will be lunching or lecturing, you can bet he’ll be dressed to impress.
When he’s not working or networking, you’ll find him home with his wife Lauren and their Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Otis cooking dinner to Billy Joel or streaming classic movies like Fletch or TV favorites like The Hunters with his feet up, albeit, probably still in dress socks.
Thanks to 17 years of banking experience and a decade in development, Jack brings a sharp instinct for real estate, unmatched market knowledge and his straight-shooting style to the RCDP team.
Born in Scranton, PA, Jack earned a business degree from The University of Missouri with a concentration in management and soon after, his MBA at Pennsylvania State University with a concentration in Finance.
He then began a productive career that would include a combination of nearly 20 years in commercial banking and ten in multifamily real estate development at ECI Group where he learned the ins and outs of multifamily development from land sourcing and construction to lease up, management and performance analysis.
It would be his desire for a more collaborative work environment and experience that would transform his relationship with Harris Carlock from respected friend and colleague to business partner and fellow founder of RCDP.
An outdoor enthusiast and competitive triathlete, Jack loves cycling and running with his vizslas Ringo and Gaja. And not only is he a pro at sourcing and developing land, he’s an active advocate for protecting it as the current Board Chair of the Sandy Springs Conservancy and a member of Leadership Sandy Springs since 2015.
Jack is a guest lecturer and contributing writer on the topic of multifamily housing and has been profiled in the Atlanta Business Chronicle for his work with The Conservancy.
When he’s not on the jobsite or the trails, you’ll find Jack either cooking with his wife and two daughters or sipping old world reds with fellow wine enthusiasts, as the founding member of the Musty Old Men Wine Society.
He’s also a Certified Specialist of Wine, which means that he paid a fee to take a test so he could put it on his bio. It also means that if you find yourself dining with him and he’s paying, let him order the bottle.
We call it our good fortune that Mike pursued a path towards architecture at Georgia Tech’s building construction division rather than continuing to study Veterinary Medicine at Emory University’s Oxford College. While he surely would’ve made a fine Veterinarian, he may never have found his lifelong passion for ensuring more families can live in safe, affordable homes throughout The American Southeast. (Go Jackets!)
Before joining Red Clay as Director of Construction, Mike was notably employed by Piedmont Engineering and Construction, where he was often the acting liaison between office decisions and on-site applications. If nothing else, he was able to learn the values of communication and compromise along the road to joining our team.
Mike was in the first graduating class of the then-new Peachtree High School. After graduation and finding his future path at Georgia Tech, he pursued a life full of hard work, faith, and happiness right here in Atlanta, GA. Along with his wife, and two dogs, the couple are looking forward to settling into their newly constructed lakeside retreat.
While caring for his family and raising his two sons has always remained a priority, Mike’s career and personal passions really intersect when he’s working to bring wood-frame construction to life for other families, like he does with multi-family housing projects here at Red Clay.
Even more impressive? On the weekends you can find Mike putting his faith into action with Habitat for humanity as an expert on-site resource for volunteer builders across The South. He says that one of these days he might slow down a bit and put more time towards golf and fishing, but for now, Mike is pleased to be putting his broad skillset to work both in and out of the home.
